CNC routing is an advanced, high precision fabrication method which is an appropriate alternative to custom molding in many instances.  If you are making millions of the same item then you would be better off with a custom molded pare.  But, where product design is fluid, multiple product options change packout configuration fragile item have short production lives; CNC routing is your answer.

This technique for developing custom, no tooling charge, parts uses precision end mills as cutting tools when fabricating expanded plastic materials.  Multiple routing heads are mounted on a frame which is articulated on X, Y and Z axes.  The frame is driven by motors which are numerically controlled by computer (CNC).  The Z axis enables production of precise pockets of variable depth.   this sophisticated technique is vastly superior to hot stamping or hot scooping used by many packaging fabricators.
