The laminates used in the manufacture of Insul-Wrap do not effect its vapor permeance. We use a heavy weight brown Kraft paper and a Kraft backed aluminum foil over the EPS core.
Kraft paper was chosen for two related reasons: 1.) The white paper commonly used on other fan-fold products began its life as a brown Kraft. It is then subjected to a bleaching process to achieve its white color. We feel that the bleaching process breaks down the fibers in the paper and reduces its strength. And, 2.) Since the bleaching process is done for cosmetic reasons only, it subjects the environment to unnecessary use of chlorine.
The foil used in Insul-Wrap is put through a costly secondary process which puts tiny slits in the surface. There are sixty-four (64) of these tears per square inch. They are put there to ensure that the material allows moisture penetration and pass-through. Look closely at competing products and you will see the difference in Insul-Wrap.
