Finished basements start with Polarguard Panel Foam! Panel Sizes: 3/4" thick, 13 1/2" x 48" Each package contains six panels which when applied with furring strips, will provide coverage for a 4' x 8' wall area.

Tools Needed:
Tape measure, panel and foam adhesive, safety goggles, nail gun, snap-off blade knife, 2 1/2" wide furring strips*, 1 1/2" hardened masonry nails, T-square, 1/2" gypsum wall board or equivalent, 1 1/4" drywall screws, hand saw.
*be certain that the furring strips are a full 2 1/2" wide and 3/4" thick so that the width of the furring strip plus the foam panels equals 16".

Measure each wall to be insulated. Multiply lenght x width in feet to calculate total square feet of each wall. Total the square feet of the walls and divide by 32 to calculate the number of packages of Panel Foam and the number of sheets of 4' x 8' gypsum board required.

Continue with these steps:

1. Measure height of wall and cut furring strips to correct length. Nail starter furring strip to wall at all corners, penetrate the wall at least 1/2".

2. Apply a small amount of water based adhesive to the Panel Foam and press firmly against wall butting the edge to the furring stip.

3. Measure from the top of the Panel Foam to the top of the wall and trim Panel Foam to fit.

4. Nail next furring strip, butting it against the foam.

5. Continue applying the Panel Foam and furring strips along wall to next corner. Trim the last foam panel to the correct width to finish coverage to the furring stip in the next corner.

6. Place gypsum board against wall and push into corner.

7. Make a mark on the board at the exact center of the outermost furring stip.

8. Trim the board to this length.

9. Screw along each furring strip, every 8 inches.

10. Cut bottom wallboard to the same length and measured height and attach with screws.

Continue applying wallboard along the wall to completion. You may finish the wall by taping joints and painting the gypsum board, or by applying paneling of your choice.
